12.30.08 Manatee Pocket

We decided to cruise into Manatee Pocket. Larry and Diane needed ice. We just wanted to put some charge into the batteries. It was a busy place. We anchored just inside the entrance and could watch all the boats going by. We wernt too far from the fish cleaning station and there was a big flock of pelicans waiting for the leftovers. We had noticed a floating hotdog stand at the entrance so decided to try one. Not bad…not real expensive either. We hung around for awhile then decided to  head back  to the island where the water was clearer and cleaner for a swim. Jim did a trash run before we left The island is a popular place for camping. The St Lucie Inlet and the ICW is like a big intersection at rush hour.I did go swimming but the water was pretty cold. You have to hang onto a long line or be swept away by the current.
