2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109

We went for an early cruise in the dingy and spotted this Bald Eagle keeping watch over us.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 002Jim saw this Blue Heron catch a snake.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 013River Nomad makes a pretty picture sneaking around the bend in the river.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 026

We traveled a bit farther S but the water depth kept getting shallower so we decided to turn around. Had fun watching a small catamaran darting around on Lake Monroe.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 039

And then we spotted a kayak.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 042 One of many fishing boats, like he’s floating in diamonds.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 043

We met the river cruise boat, Romance, as we neared the railroad bridge near the W end of Lake Monroe.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 044 When we entered the side channel near G11 we spotted 3 gators.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 049 Once at anchor we dropped the dingy in the water and went for a ride. As we nosed up to our favorite beach for Raisin, we saw 3 more smaller ones.

The tree tops have nesting Blue Herons in them. It is so strange to see these big birds perched in flimsy branches, and there are several nests in one tree.2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 033 We’ve rafted up for the night and the “patrol” is out. 2.10.09 S of Lake Jessup to G109 072 I dont think we have to worry about anyone swimming up and trying to board us….there are at least 6 within a few hundred feet of the boat. We will have to be alert when we take Raisin ashore after dark. This is a good area for gator watching.
