Joanne took us to Mabrey Mill. It is an old sawmill that was run by water wheel.
It’s just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can see the workings of the old mill…a stream side still …a lumber drying rack…an old home and have a good meal.
After our tour we went to Rocky Knob.
Here is a quick video of the view.
There are several hiking trails here. Joanne and I are hoping to hike at least one when we come back thru in June. I will have to get in better shape before then. One trail is only 3 miles and rated as moderate. Another is 10 miles rated strenuous …don’t think we’ll be doing that one, at least not this year.
When we got back to the cabin we sat on the deck and watched the deer come in.
These 4 are a doe with 3 fawns. Joanne thinks one is adopted.
There is another one that comes in alone. What a treat to sit out here in the morning having coffee and watch them come in and then again in the evening.
We also spotted a wild turkey in the same area…
The cabin on the hill is a bit of paradise.
