repairs

We have been getting our daily exercise...many many trips up and down that big ladder. It looks like a small boat in this photo but that is a 16' ladder. We finished replacing the broken parts of the rubrail bracket. We'll give it a few days to set and then put the rubrail on.

We've soundproofed the engine compartment doors. The original stuff was falling off and all the shiny heat shield was gone. They are a bit heavier..(2lb per sq ft). Cant wait to see if it's any quieter, and perhaps a bit cooler in the cockpit.

The engine compartment and bilge have been pressure washed and then shopvaced to remove the 20 years of accumulated oil and gunk...it wasnt a pretty sight ...but it is now...the new bilge pump should last a lot longer now.

We made the bench seat into a Captain's Chair...the bench was nice for two ...but it was in the way of the R engine compartment door and Jim had to be hunched over or bang his head....it turns out to be more comfortable for me since it is a bit closer to the foot rest now. I like it when Jim comes up with mods from stuff we already have...saved at least $350 on that chair.

We're in the process of installing an inverter. Then we should be ready to do a thorough cleaning...touchup the bottom paint and take her on her maiden voyage as "Slow Motion". Now where did I put that bottle of Champaigne?
